Staff will undergo an extensive induction programme.

Affinity Healthcare is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
Middleton St George Hospital is approximately a 20 minute drive from Middlesbrough Town Centre and a 10 minute drive from Darlington Town Centre.
Our Recruitment Policy
Our aim is to ensure that Middleton St George Hospital (MSGH) recruits and retains the highest calibre employees, thus ensuring that we deliver the highest quality of care to our patients and the highest levels of service to our providers.
If you apply for a position with us your application will be assessed against a number of specific criteria required for the post. If you demonstrate you can meet the required criteria you will be invited to attend for interview. We always aim for the interview to be a two-way process so you can learn about us as well as allowing us to get an understanding of your relevant competencies and experience.
Equal Opportunities
At Middleton St George Hospital we provide equal opportunities and are committed to the principle of equality regardless of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, religious belief, political opinion or affiliation, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender re-assignment, age or disability. We will apply employment policies which are fair, equitable and consistent with the skills and abilities of our employees and the needs of the business. All applications are considered on their merits against a number of specific criteria for each role on offer.
Referencing and Criminal Records Disclosure (CRB) Checks
Due to the nature of our business we are required by law to obtain two employment references and a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure check on new employees and thereinafter, every three years.
Two work-related references will be obtained from your present and/or most recent employers should you be offered a position and must be acceptable to our high standards.
Those staff whose role will involve working with vulnerable adults (POVA) and children (POCA) will be required to undertake a CRB Disclosure check to 'enhanced' level with the result being satisfactory to MSGH requirements. You will be required to produce a current passport and two proofs of address either at or before interview to facilitate the CRB Disclosure check and to verify your ability to undertake work in the United Kingdom.
Work Permits
Non-UK residents who apply for specific posts within MSGH may require a UK Work Permit which is issued by the Home Office. Subject to a job offer, the Human Resources department will obtain the initial Work Permit (WP1) for you. It would then become your responsibility to obtain and supply the necessary 'Leave to Remain' status documentation.
Probationary Period
All new employees are subject to a six-month probationary period. This gives us both the opportunity to assess your performance in your role and identify any training and development needs. The probationary period may be extended by managements at their discretion.
The Benefits of Working for Middleton St George Hospital
We pride ourselves on offering a competitive remuneration package as well as opportunities for training and development.
Grouped Personal Pension Scheme
One of our main benefits is our pension scheme (subject to passing your probationary period) which is administered by HSBC. For a minimum employee contribution of 3% of salary, the company pays 9% of salary into the scheme. Once you are eligible to join the scheme our company financial adviser will discuss the options available to you.
Life Assurance Scheme
During your employment the company offers two times your annual salary in life assurance cover at no cost to the individual.
Profit Share Scheme
Twice a year, if the company achieves its targets, we enjoy payments from the Profit Share Scheme (subject to a qualifying period and following your probationary period) which are paid in the July and December payrolls. This is an opportunity to share in the company's success.
Holiday Entitlement
At MSGH we have a generous holiday entitlement where most staff receive 27 days (rising to 29 days after 2 full years of service) plus 8 bank holidays. Details of holiday entitlements for other roles are contained in individual job advertisements on this website.
Holiday Trade Scheme
There is flexibility within the Holiday Trade Scheme to allow employees to alter their holiday entitlement by selling or buying holidays; subject to meeting the requirements of the procedure.
Recruit A Friend Bonus Scheme
Employees who recruit a friend to the company are entitled to a bonus payment of £150 for recruiting a non-qualified member of staff (payable after six months if both persons are on the payroll) and a bonus payment of £1000 for recruiting a qualified member of staff (£500 payable when the 'friend' commences their employment with us and £500 payable after six months if both persons are on the payroll).
Other benefits include free car parking for all.
Induction and Training
We believe that a comprehensive Induction plays an important part in welcoming new members of staff and helping them to understand what we do, where they fit in, the standards we expect and the support that is available.
Prior to taking up post in your work area you will be invited to attend an Induction Programme; this will be facilitated over a 3-day period. Within this Programme you will receive valuable information that will aid you within your role at MSGH.
Training is a very important issue at MSGH and CPD is actively encouraged. We offer a wide range of internal training courses covering job specific areas. We also carefully consider applications for external courses that would enhance knowledge and skills that could then be applied back in the work place.
Within your first week you will be invited to attend an individual session with your new manager who will sit down with you and set objectives for your first six months.
